About us
No one has ever become poor from giving ( Anne Frank)
Anne Sophie Martens
Conscious giving I learnt from Dad. For me, giving is living, if it is raising our children, helping my mums, or assisting my husband. It’s just in my body. It leaves marks in the ink of my veins. Also during my stays in the slums, I have been touched by how much it can mean to another person to just be there, listen without any judgement and open up to other sounds of life. What do I get in return? Healing, self-knowledge, enrichment, fulfilment to infinity, for which I am so grateful. It fills my veins again with the color of love.

Children have always been important in my life. I am a proud grandfather of 2 granddaughters who go to school which is essential in their life. During my stay in the slums of Nairobi, I discovered another reality. These children also have the right to benefit from education and quality of life.

They have dark skin, the sun from sunrise to sunset, fruits and vegetables full of flavor, a perpetual smile, a singing voice, a deeply rooted sense of mutual aid, an unimaginable faith in God, and a joy of life despite everything. Many children here no longer have parents: one question returns to them each day—will I eat today?
All these differences do not leave me indifferent. By helping them, by being at their side, by holding their hand, I gain the conviction that I am giving them hope. It is their right, it is my opportunity. Giving them this hope is, in the end, giving joy to myself.

Mission
AMKA is a Center for Health & Education where AIDS patients, other vulnerable people, and their families are supported. The follow-up of children is central, both on an educational and medical level. They are supported in their upbringing, care, improvement of living conditions, and medical treatment. They receive school fees (which may cover primary, secondary, higher, or university education), psychological support through regular school and home visits and seminars, medical care, breakfast, and one warm meal per day.
Our Support Group in Belgium is looking for partners and donors to help realize the goal of the project in Kenya.
Our project is recognized by the Ministry of Health in Kenya.
